Malaysia triumphs in 2011 NetRiders Challenge.  

On Thursday 27th of October, Cisco conducted one of the largest real-time video competitions ever held in Asia with students from 17 countries participating simultaneously over four hours using Cisco TelePresence and WebEx technology.  The students who are developing Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), critical thinking and problem-solving skills as part of Cisco's Networking Academy program, demonstrated how organisations can collaborate across vast geographic and cultural barriers without having to fly people to a single location.

NetRiders is an annual competition held by the Cisco® Networking Academy® and uses Cisco Web 2.0 technologies to create an interactive experience, enhance classroom learning, and motivate young people to further pursue technology education and training.  To date, over 16,000 Cisco Networking Academy students have competed in NetRiders events in over 80 countries across the globe.  The competition is an opportunity for Networking Academy students to participate in a valuable learning experience by testing student’s capability and skill in the area of computer network hardware design, configuration, development, and maintenance, all of which are covered in the Networking Academy curriculum.

This year, the winning team, and the runners up, received an all-expenses-paid trip to the United States in January 2012 as well as the bragging rights for the next 12 months.
